【news】9/11青山のラスチカスでの展示販売に参加
絵の売り上げを陸前高田の被災地の方々に送る食料を買う代金とする、展覧会に増山麗奈も参加します。会場となるラスチカスと、この企画を行っているイアン&ベロニカは私の初個展を企画してくれた場所＋方です。９１１後自分のルーツとこうやって出会う事をうれしく思っています。
作品新作も含めて持っていきます。ぜひ、９１１作品を購入して、被災地の助けになりましょう。
私は午後から仙台に行くので、会場に午前９時〜１１時３０分ごろまでいます。

This event has been created in order to raise much needed funds for the disaster relief of the people of the Karakuwa peninsula (Miyagi prefecture), and Rikuzen-Takata (Iwate prefecture). All funds raised in this event will be converted into fresh fruit and vegetables and then hand delivered to the housing units of this area of Tohoku by the Tokyo-based 4 member international team, V.I.G.A. (Veronica, Iain, Guy, Akitsu).
All persons concerned about the welfare of a population devastated by the events of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami are very welcome and are encouraged to attend. Please forward this information to any persons you think will be interested in this community event.
Entrance fee: ¥1,000 (¥500 to disaster relief), includes one drink.
GUIDELINES FOR ARTISTS.
The concept is extremely simple.
Please send an image of your 100% donated work to the Facebook Page "ARTISTS for TOHOKU" including the title/size/medium/date of creation and expected price.
The image will be included in an album on the "ARTISTS for TOHOKU" Page for all interested persons to view.
Submission deadline is September 10th.
On Sunday 11th September please arrive at Tokyo Salon/Kyozon before 11 a.m.
GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPANTS.
Please come and show your support and if you feel like you would like to purchase a piece of artwork on display, speak with the artist concerned and have confidence that 100% of the sales price will be used to support the local economy of this particular area of Tohoku by purchasing locally grown produce. The produce purchased will then be hand delivered to the people living in the housing units nearby, by V.I.G.A.

Information about "V.I.G.A."
As soon as Veronica returned from Chile on April 14th I told her about all the people helping out in the Tohoku region of Japan and immediately she wanted to be a part of the effort.
We checked the facebook “Foreign volunteers Network” postings and found a government official from Kesennuma (Miyagi prefecture) asking for assistance, so Veronica got on the phone and started calling around for donations of food, water, clothing for babies, children, teens, adults and the elderly (who seem to be suffering the most). We have a Scottish friend, Guy, and his girlfriend, Akitsu (dragonfly) who live in Chiba and they wanted to join us. Quite a simple start really, 4 persons with a mission. Our first trip was very soon after, from 22-25 April.
The usual schedule is, we leave Tokyo at midnight on Thursday and drive a car and a 2 tonne truck for about 9 hours to the Karakuwa peninsula area of Tohoku which includes a visit to Rikuzen-Takata (a scene of immense destruction and an estimated loss of life of around 2,500 people), and then the day starts. We drive to as many shelters (now “housing units”) as possible to offload the scores of boxes so that the people can select what they need, then reload the truck and move to the next shelter. At each destination we also give boxes of food and water. Friday is usually a very long day especially as we have not slept the night before. We continue with the same routine on Saturday and then on Sunday morning, Veronica organises us to cook lunch for between 150-300 people. Finally, we leave the area at some point on Sunday evening and then make the long drive back to Tokyo, usually arriving around 4 a.m. Monday morning.
Our focus has changed since our first trip in April. Now, we are more focused upon delivering food because the government of Japan has decided to stop sending food to the shelters and housing units.
There are many hungry people who have been forgotten and need our help. With a little effort we can create some smiles upon the faces of persons who are enduring a quite difficult situation.
V.I.G.A. has also connected with Kazoo, a Japanese orthodontist based in Tokyo, who has very kindly been visiting the same area to provide dental care for the elderly.
So far, since the first visit in April, we have been to this disaster-hit region of northern Japan once every month and we are committed to continue with this mission until the situation improves.
There is much more to be written as so much has happened in such a short time, however, the above information is a basic outline of what we have been doing and how it all started.

イベントをとおして集まった寄付は、宮城県気仙沼市唐桑、そして岩手県陸前高田市の仮設住宅の人々のもとに、新鮮な果物そして野菜となって届きます。私たち東京在住のTEAM V.I.G.A(Veronica Iain Guy Akitsu)が仮設住宅の一戸一戸手渡しで届けます。
３月１１日に起こった東日本大震災、および津波の被害のことを気にかけている人はぜひ足を運んで下さい。もし、友達や知り合いなどで興味のある人を知っていたら、知らせてもらえると嬉しいです。

"V.I.G.A."について
地震の後チリに帰っていたベロニカは、４月１１日に東京に帰って来て東北の状況、そして活動しているボランティアの話をイアンから聞くとすぐに、被災地のために自分に何が出来るか、出来ることがあれば今すぐにでも行動にうつしたいと強く思った。
FACEBOOKの“Foreign volunteers Network”の書き込みから宮城県気仙沼市で支援を呼びかけていることを知ると、その場で電話を取り、募金や支援物資、主に食料、飲料水、赤ちゃん、子供、お年寄りなど（とくに支援を必要としていると思った人たち）の衣料品の提供を呼びかけはじめた。
イアンとベロニカは千葉に住んでいる友達のガイと、ガイの彼女のアキツがいて、彼らも何か出来ることがないか探していた。で、声をかけてこのV.I.G.Aが始まった。という、始まりはかなりシンプルなものだった。４人が集まってからすぐの４月２２日～２５日、最初の支援物資輸送、炊き出しに出た。
いつものスケジュールは、木曜日の夜に２トントラックで東京を出発、９時間ほどかけて、私たちが支援している宮城県気仙沼市唐桑、岩手県陸前高田市（２５００人以上が死亡、行方不明、町の大半）周辺に到着、金曜日が始まる。なるべく多くの避難所（現在は仮設住宅）を訪れて必要とされている物を下ろす。それぞれの避難所で皆から集まった支援物資、食料、飲料水を下ろして、次の避難所に向かう。金曜日は前の日から寝てないのでとても長い一日となる。土曜日、日曜日の朝も同じように避難所を廻る。日曜日その後、ベロニカのオーガナイズでお昼に１５０人から３００人分の炊き出しをする。そして片付け、全てが終わる日曜日の夜にまた東京への長い帰路につく。いつも東京に着くのは月曜日の朝方になる。
私たちの目的は、一番はじめに行った４月の時点からは少し変わり、今では衣料品などの量を減らし、食料、飲料水を中心に運んでいる。避難所が解散になり避難所へ移った後、食べ物の配布は打ち切られ、被災地の避難所では、食料、飲料水の必要性まだまだ足りていない状況が続いている。
現在も避難所では子供、高齢者、皆に被災地の状況を忘れられてしまったのではないかと不安を抱えながらお腹をすかしている人がまだまだ沢山いる。私たちは少しの力でも、集まればこの大変な状況に置かれている被災地の人たちの顔に小さな笑顔をつくることができると思っている。
V.I.G.Aは東京の日本人歯科技師のカズオさんの大きな協力のもと、支援地域の高齢者向けのデンタルケアも提供できるようになった。
四月から今まで私たちは宮城県気仙沼市唐桑から陸前高田市までの被災エリアに毎月１回支援物資輸送、炊き出しを行ってきました。私たちに出来ることは限られていますが、こういった小さい支援を継続的にすることが必要とされていると思っています。
この活動をとおしてきた４カ月、人とのつながり、出会い、ありすぎてここには書ききれないですが、今回はとりあえず私たちのやっていることを知ってもらえたら嬉しいです。
